Will the new civic si vtec engine fit in a 98 civic hb
Will the new civic si vtec engine fit in a 98 civic hb. If so how do I go about looking to buy that engine or something similar. Not looking to spend much money just looking to see if I can get a good low miliage and faster than mine engine into my car.

You mean the 2001+ Civic Si? That is a K20 motor. Search under K20 and you'll see how it's not too easy to swap one in. Lots of fabrication and custom parts needed.
Not wanting to spend money and motor swap DO NOT belong in the same sentence unless you're doing a SOHC VTEC swap. Every motor that starts with B, H, and K are going to be pricey.

if you dont want something to pricey and faster than yours i would just reccomend a b16.

So point blank a b16 is the best for the price? I have the default cx engine that came in my 98 hatchback and it now has 144,000 miles on it.

What would be a decent price on one of those engines? and Do I need to buy anything other than the engine itself or what?

are you looking more for preformance or just a new motor? You could swap it out for a d-series engine. Much easier swap if you plan on figuring it out for yourself.

it is not that hard to swap a k motor in its just a little bit more expensive, its a bolt in affair other than the tranny mount needs cut off and the aftermarket bolted in. and then there is the shifter issue which isn't that hard to get around you want info pick up and issue of just about any mag on the market and they will answer your question or try searching the web there is more than enough info

dude.. he doesn't have a clue yet... and a b16 for your ek (obd2a) will run you at least $2000 for just the motor, unless you get two different harness adapters to run obd0, which doesn't make sense anyway.. do some research, learn about your car....there's plenty of info on here. search function will be your best friend. good luck.
