Default will my timing be off a half a tooth when doing a mini-me??

i heard that timing will be off a half a tooth retarded or advanced when doing a mini-me. is this true? is that too bad or should i just get a adj. cam gear?

I can't help you a lot but I can tell you that if you get the right belt, then you are ok. Because I don't know the head/block/belt combos...

great my car is not running good at all, has to be timing but i dont know what you have to do when putting a y8 head on a b7 block. jeeeez.

How's it running? I just did mine last week and it's got a shitty asssss low idle right now. It doesn't feel like it picks up either, like it's choking out on something.

thats exactly how mine is, ive tried every possible combinationa dn it doesnt get any better.

what timing belt do u have on right now? cause i'm pretty sure u will need the y8 belt, use the belt that goes with the head

yes the timing is gonna be off, just advance the cam gear 1/2 a tooth and u will be fine. not sure if that goes for all mini me conversions such as obd2 head... someone could chim in this... btw did u by anychance mill the head?

head hasnt been milled... and like i said i have tried EVERY possible combination. advanced and retarded 1 degree at a time up to +-10 degrees. and nothing!!!!!!!!

maybe it has to do with the distributor since the head ur using is OBD2 and ur using the old distributor which is OBD1? or do u have both? u might wanna look into how to convert the OBD1 wires to OBD2 if u already dont have the right distributor...

when i did my mini me (R.I.P) it didnt start up my first try. i over tighten the valves and it was hard to start it up and when it did it idled like cr@p and would die. so i loosen them up and fired right up...

btw what ecu are u running?

running p28. valves are good. checked them many times. its not the dizzy.
