Default will it fit?

My friend has a crx and I have a good timing belt for a 97 civic hx(d16y8). Will the water pump, tensioner, and timing belt interchange between the 91 honda crx si(non vtec d16) and a 97 honda (d16y8 vtec)?
thanks,
robert

I want to say no. It might be as easy as the teeth on the water pump but im 99% sure it wont work straight on.

may I ask if they changed anything with the head when they made it v-tec? Or did they make the belt wider possibly?
thanks

can you elaborate some more on this? Will the water pump from the 97 civic bolt right up? then the pully would match with the belt? Or are the teeth all together different for the crankshaft/camshaft pully?

so since I have the 97 belt, water pump, and tensioner, it will fit! That's sweet! So what did they change on the water pump that they are different?

From 88-00 the crank gear, and the water pump design is the same. Only difference is that each motor has different teeth for the belt (to flow more water through). Thats why you put the water pump to the timing belt.

got a problem. Got my friends car apart and counted the number of teeth on the 97 belt and it had 105? and then counted the crx's and it had 108? and the water pump both have 15. So should it still work? the gears look different for the camshafts(I just did my 97, that's why I have an extra one). What do you think guys, do I need to order a new one or should I mark the spots on the cam with a paint marker onto the timing belt and sping the engine over 4 times and see if the marks line up or should the marks line up every full revolution?
