Default Will a Del Sol DOHC VTEC engine harness work on my LS/VTEC?

I have a 96 Civic EX with B18a block and B16 head. The current harness was hacked up by the previous owner, so I want to start over. It currently has a GSR ECU, however, I am buying a JDM 96-98 ITR ECU. Will the 96-97 Del Sol DOHC VTEC harness work in my application? Here are more details if they help:

Header with o2 sensor, no catalytic converter
gsr tranny
stock fuel injectors
no EVAP canister or "purge sensor (?)" on fuel rail

Not sure if any other info is needed. I appreciate any help you can give me.

Also, the harness I am looking at is missing the CKF sensor. could someone please tell me what that is and how it may cause a problem for me?

thanks,
Jacob

what year is the head...that will tell you one thing. if the head is obd1 you need an obd1 harness. since you are getting a jdm ecu, that right there is obd1 also. now if the head is obd2 you should swap out the manifold and distributor for an older obd1 version and you will be fine

the head is from a 2000si.
i thought the JDM ecu was obd2, but it only senses the first o2 sensor.

ok. this is unclear. can you explain how i will run a wire from one of the connectors on the shock tower to a connector of the ecu?

also, i need to find the wires that go from the firewall to the ecu because mine were hacked up due to a vafc. where can i find this harness?

thanks

that harness should separate at some point near the letters in the pic. on all hondas ive seen, the engine harness connects to the plugs on the shock tower. go out and look at ur engine bay. u will see the plugs on the shock tower next to the battery. and the other plugs are next to the brake booster.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by krazy &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">no harness goes from the engine bay ALL THE WAY to the ecu. the engine harness stays in the engine bay and connects from shock post to shock post. since ur car is obd 2, u will have a obd 2 ecu plug. in order to use a obd 1 ecu, u will need a jumper harness. but since u are gonna use a obd2 ecu, no need for anything. just plug and play. u can still use the del sol harness, its a lot less trouble. only thing ud have to do is run the knock sensor wire from the harness to the ecu.

so i suggest editing your previous post so people wont be misinformed. let me know if its unclear.

no krazy.. i suggest that you fix your post cause you are wrong.. your eg has the connectors at the strut tower but his ek does not..

as for help with your problem i dont think you will have a problem with that.. cant answer your question directly cause ive only really worked with 92-95 civics

hmm... ok i stand corrected. im trying to find a pic of an ek engine bay to clear this up. from what i understood, the obd2 engine harness can be plugged into the eg engine bay as well. ill be back...

i found these... kinda hard to see:

and this one, this has a plug near the battery location, im wondering if this disconnects the harness or not.

here is another pic of the same harness. as you can tell, there are no connectors.
i'm not sure, but maybe those connectors on the shock towers control the headlights and turn signals. you can see one such connector in the bottom middle:

Yep, 96-00 Civic harness goes thru to the ECU, no connectors on the passanger side shock tower.

But, 99-00 Civic engine harnesses only pull out with 2 of the 3 plugs. One is attached to the chassie harness. Not sure if this is true for 99-00 Hx's because 99-00 Hx pinouts stay the same as 96-98.

aww, shitt i know what i was thinking now. the obd2 integras have the same type of harness. i didnt realize the ek was totally different. my bad. anyway, im sure u could always use ur existing harness and splice/add extra wires for the ecu.

Buy another 96-98 ex harness or 96-98 dx harness and modify. Those are your only options.

I'm trying to find a 96-98 EX harness, but I'm not having any luck yet.
