Will a D16 fit in the rear of an EG hatch?
I searched but the only results that came up were for swaps... I'm not talking about swapping the engine out, I need to know if it'll physically fit in the rear of the hatch. I plan on taking out the spare tire to free up space and hopefully set the engine in the spare tire well.
The trans and exhaust manifold are coming off, will I be able to fit it through the back hatch opening? I just need to know for sure before I drive two hours
Thanks in advance

Hmmm. I tried looking for some interior dimensions for you but couldn't find any at the moment. My advice would be to measure your interior dimensions yourself and eyeball if it can based on a rough estimate of the engine size. Sounds pretty redundant I guess.
Bump for someone w/ specs or who actually has an EG hatch.
An aside, my friend fit a Type R motor in the back of his EK hatch, but his hatch was stripped bare anyhow. If you took out everything inside, it goes w/o saying that it will fit.
Sorry I couldn't be of much help.

An EK hatch folds up in one large piece though, the EG folds in half... I think It'll be harder to lift up and over the lower piece
bump for finding someone who has actually transported a D/B-Series in the rear of an EG hatch

it will fit without the trans attached. been done, more than once.
just be sure you either have two or three decent sized guys or an engine hoist to get it in there.

I fit a b18b with tranny attached on the back of my 92 hatch...so a single cam should be no problem.

Alright, thanks. I don't have access to a hoist so we might pull the passenger seat and lay it in the interior since it's easier than lifting into the rear hatch

i fitted a ls in the trunk of the hatch. if you have a spare tire . i would use that to sit the engine on
you dont need a hoist they are easy to lift
