Default Will d-series shift for work in b-series trans?

So pretty stupid question I know, typically the answer is a resounding NO. Different part numbers, different transmissions all the answers point to no. But I'm gonna ask anyways...

I've got a b16a2 trans without a shift fork, I cannot seem to find one local. But a buddy of mine has a shift fork out of a z6 and it looks identical to a b-series shift fork. So I borrowed one to see if it would fit, bolting up a slave cylinder as well. Here are some pics:

Tell me all what you think?

They're different, the B-series is definitely heavier. I can't remember exactly how it's different but it is. The throw probably wont be right and you'll have clutch release issues.
