Default will crx suspension fit my civic?

I've got a 93 civic sedan and i need struts. my mechanic has a '90 crx with suspension on it and he told me i could have it if it fits. So... will it work? what do i need to make it work? is the weight difference in the cars a problem? any info would be awesome. also... anyone with a coupe/hatch front bumper on a sedan? any hints on making it fit and look clean? i have one in my basement complete with lip that i'm cleaning up and painting. Thanks a lot. Ben

it will fit. For the front you need the wish bone from the CRX. as for teh rear, i would take the LCA from teh CRX just to be safe.

I know the springs are different sizes, I went through this personally. The rear suspension is a different setup, and I wouldn't use it if I were you, even if you could make it fit. But to simply answer your q, they aren't directly interchangeable. Dunno about the bumper.

My only experience is that I bought some H&R race springs for my 92 hatch only to find out that they were for a crx / ef. The crx springs are smaller in diameter and shorter. Also, if you look in a chiltons / haynes / helms for these cars, it shows that the crx uses a live axle in the rear, as opposed to the eg's rear independent setup. I'm not claiming 100% it won't work, but it definately will not be the same as if you find some eg suspension. Once again I wish you luck..

i realize the older rex's use the live rear axle but is it also used in the 88-91? the reason im askin is because this will be a better suspension for free compared to like $175 min for stock struts. what would the smaller diameter springs effect? and do u know how much shorter the rear springs are? thanks agian for the help

i have first hand expereince of EF suspension on teh EG6.

I bought a set of used Tein HA's from my friend that were made for a EF. They bolted to my EG, but the front I had to use the Wishbone from the EF, as for the rear. it was a type R style (eye VS Fork) so I had to get type R rear lower control arms.

Other then that the suspension fit with no problems.

ok i have 94 cx and i had 91 crx and crx got hit...put teh frotn and rear susp. on my car...for teh frotn you need teh strust and frotn forks. the rear you can use your control arms or teh crx i have teh crx on .......the downside teh frotn will be lower by one (1) inch. so if its 2in drop for crx it will be 3 for you....i have coils so i just have the frotn up....it rides better this way too

I got CRX suspension on my 95' DX hatch. I had to use the EF's front forks. The rear is fine. WORDS FROM EXPERIENCE!!!!!! The drop is really low in the front though. When stranglethecat.com is back up, I'll post pics. The rear is fine, but the low is tucked like a mother... I have SI wheels with 195/55/R15's and I can barely squeeze a pinky through the front...
