i have a 2000 civic si. whenever i drive it makes a knocking noise and i can feel it in the shifter. it only happens when i brake or let of the throttle. it goes away when i hit the throttle. anyone know what it could be??

I'd check the engine mounts by having someone in the car pull the e-brake and then feather the gas while pumping th clutch to see what amount of rocking the engine/trans is doing. the timing belt side engine mounts on those cars are notorious for breaking and splashing nasty hydraulic fluid everywhere.

Besides that axles may be an issue too.

You'll feel any vibrations/knocking through the shifter.

i dont think its a engine mount but ill check to be sure. it sounds like its coming from the passenger side though. thier anything else i should check? or should i just pull the trans and check the inside. it sounds like a bearing or a axle has gone bad though. not too sure. anyone else got any ideas?

k found out what is wrong with my trans. it either i blew my differential or bearing. if its a diff im just gonna buy a lsd. any brand of lsd i should stay away from? anyone wanna tell me what i have to do exactly, when it comes to trannys i dont no ****. is it hard to install a lsd?

finally took apart the trans and the differential blew. the gears that are inside of it lost a couple teeth. i just ordered a lsd. anyone have any manual with pictures that might help me put all the gears back together? they are together currently but i just wanna make sure i did it right. dont wanna install it and find out i messed up.
