wierd miss firing
if you can help me solve this i will pay 20 bucks thru paypal!!
when i am in first...i take off...about 2k to 3k rpm is starts spitting/missfiring. it goes like...vrooooooooom..spits spit spits spits...vrooooooooooooooooooooooom. i throw it into second...about the same amount of rpms...it spits maybe once. today i changed out the spark plug wires i thought that was a issue. NOPE. changed the spark plugs...NOPE. i called a couple of friends. 1 said it can be my O2 sensor cuz i installed a header into my car and when we pulled my old O2 sensor..it look black as hell. he said that can be a problem. i thought it was denation cuz i been using crappy gas since i got the car...i started to use mid grade...nope. i called another friend and he said my exhuast piping is too small. i have a ebay n1 exhuast and i am using stock piping. the piping looks really really small...he said that there isnt enough back pressure. another friend said to go buy a engine cleaner which i put half the bottle in my gas tank and the other half where i put my oil at. the day it start happening...i changed my oil and installed a short throw shifter. i went to pick up my little brother from a friends house and the guy house had a upward dip into his driveway but when i was backing out...i scrapped the living SH*T of it. the wierdest thing it only happens really bad in first gear. then pretty much goes away. please help...its very annoying and its scary cuz i dont want my motor to blow. thanx in advance.

usuall the surge is coused by a vaccum leak another bad problem with them is the egr valves build up alot of carbon try to clean or replace it but make sure u clean the intake tubes use carb cleaner

Re: (b16a4)
Allright,
The hesitation/misfire deal might be the EGR ports on the IM (IF YOU HAVE AN EGR), there are ports that go from smaller-larger as they go away form the EGR, this is to make sure that each port gets the same volume of gas in each cyl. clean these out, because the smaller ports get clogged up first and dump all the hot unburnt gasses into one or two cyl.'s. As for the phantom revving, there is a cover on the back of the throttle body that houses the fast idle thermo valve. if you pull the cover off and tighten down a screw inside there it should keep the idle steady, if that doesn't work spray brake cleaner all over the vacuum lines and listen for a change in idle. You should also check the compression on each cyl. and perform a valve adjustment. If you are getting a misfire code try removing the fuel rail and swapping the injector on the misfiring cyl. for a cyl. that is not misfiring to see if the misfire follows the injector.
Hope that helps,
Rad
