i had a completly stock d15b7 that was running like a champ except for a iat cel code it was throwing.
then out of no where for no reason and with no warning it decided to throw rods 2 and 3 through the side of the block.. i want even running it hard just cruising in 5th at about 70 on the interstate

well my check oil light was on but i had plenty of oil so i figured it was the sensor.. could it have been the pump though? would a faulty oil pump cause the check oil light to come on?

always be checking your oil about 2 times a week never just let the light tell you when ur low on oil....i didnt check my oil for about 2 weeks and went to check it and saw there was barely any oil on the dipstick and the light still wasnt on

**** i never thought of it like that.. yeah if the sensor wasnt working then the light wouldnt come on. hell im such and idiot
and i did check the oil alot even changed it 3 times and once accidently put almost 10 quarts of oil in it trying to get the light to go away..
but i bet it was my oil pump or something to do with the oil spider thingy in the oil pan.. it was a subosidly rebuilt motor i bought off some hicks in the middle of no where for 50$ it looked new but i should have checked it.
OH WELL I GOT A GSR SWAP IN THE WORKS IM JUST TRYING TO MAKE SURE I LEARN EVERYTHING AS I WILL CRY IF I THROW RODS THROUGH A GSR

That oil light really isn't related to oil pressure. You have to be pretty much out of oil before the light will come on. What it can tell you is that there is a problem with the pressure lubrication. maybe a bad pump, dented oil pan restricting oil flow to the pickup in the sump. Ignoring the warning lights is generally a bad idea.
