Why so many Rotas?!?!
Alright, I'm not hating on any of you whatsoever, but I gotta know-Why the Rotas? I know they're light, I know they're cheap-BUT they're Imitations!!! I know not everyone can afford a set of Mf8's or some Spoons, but come on! In my own mind, I think that's kinda hating on Spoon and Mugen! They came up with the wheel design, and now Rotas makiing the profit by selling them so cheap. Don't get me wrong, they look good, and for the money and weight-you can't go wrong, but they're trying WAY too hard to be like Spoon and Mugen....I'm not hating, just debating..

I know they're light, I know they're cheap
But I do understand what you are saying, I think that the people here realize that with the money they save, they can get a lot more stuff and that matters to them more than their wheels having a mugen center cap.

Re: Why so many Rotas?!?! (poison)
only reason i got them, is i had no rims or anything, i wasnt gonna waste 300 bucks on new tires for my stock rims... and so i saw rotas for 600 w/ tire and bought them, but this was when they werent like altezza tail lights ;p but all in all despite the large quanitiy of them on teh street and everywhere the bang for the buck is awseome.
if i was made of money i wouldda got something different ;p but i needed rims and bam thas wut i got

Re: Why so many Rotas?!?! (poison)
I know, most people on here are about what works, and what's worth the most for the money. I know that, I'm the exact same way. I have MF10's on my car, and I believe that if you want to have the best from your car, put the best into it. I bet the dimensions and quality of the Rotas are good, but they're replicas of Spoons and Mugens! At least they could come up with an original design, and I'd get some for my 94 si. I just hate seeing imitators. It's like making a bondo bumper to look like the realtime type r bumpers. Looks the same right? But it's not. Oh well whatever, just had to get it of my chest after seeing all this hype about them.

Yeah, but at least an original design. It's like buying fake Polo shirts to have the same image.

Re: Why so many Rotas?!?! (ryu12341)
i got my rotas cus, at the time, my tires on the 14 inch stockas didnt have enough tread to pass inspection, and i was limited on cash. Also, my rotas have held up very good and theyre alot cheaper to replace if stolen than say spoons, mugens, or volks. Probley one day when i have enclosed parking, i would like a pair of TE-37s. ahh....... that'd be tha day

You answered your own question.
I could care less what my car looks like(alright not exactly true). I just care how well it performs.
I honestly think flashy wheels make a car look ugly.
Every car I've owned has always had color matching wheels and they are always 5 spoke.
Forgot to add I have two sets. And a set of ROH reflex which is also really light and cheap. I've gotten ripped on so much for the ROH's.
Then I have 3 sets of panasports in the garage which are a classic race wheels.

Re: Why so many Rotas?!?! (ryu12341)
I haven't even looked up anything, but are the Rotas made in US? Are they cast or forged?
and they're definitely not forged.
i got my slip streams a week after they were available not knowing they were gonna be so popular. i've only seen maybe 3 cars in my area with slip streams and 1 with C8's. the autocross guys love rota wheels. i'd say about 1/4 of them have a set that they use during events. i think of it this way... forged wheels are great, they're light, strong but also expensive, and then you tack on the name (Spoon, Mugen, Advan etc...) the price goes up another 100 bucks just for that... the name. i could curb, bend, crack one one my wheels 3 times over before i pay the price of one Spoon wheel.
lets see... 80.00 for a slip stream, 380.00 for a SW388.
yeah, i think i'll keep my rota's.

Re: Why so many Rotas?!?! (ryu12341)
I got the C8's because I wanted a dark bronze wheel and couldn't afford to spend more than $500. I have had two other sets of Rota's (arials and N1-R's) and loved them. When I bought them, I wasn't aware that they were a Mugen copy. I can't afford Mugen, so I really don't look at, or care about their products.
I just wanted an affordable, good looking, quality wheel, that was different from what everyone locally is running, and I succeeded, and stayed within my budget.

i figured, if you're gonna' do it, do it right and stick to the original:
well worth the money, greenlights don't come close...
(a few problems w/ imagestation, so my apoligies if NO image here )

I understand Koni's and GC are cheap and reliable but everyone and there mom has them.
Also everyone and there mom has either Kumos Hoosiers or Aziens.
Just trying to make a joke.
It's not about looks for everyone.

Re: Why so many Rotas?!?! (ryu12341)
in the world of rip off parts and crap, people buy stuff that offers the best performance to dollar ratio. Hell domestic guys wouldn't be caught dead paying $300 a rim for any damn wheels. Import companys charge what people are willing to pay. Hell i bet rotas cost $5 a rim to make.

Re: Why so many Rotas?!?! (civicatuofw)
another real vs rota post. u talk about spoons being real? spoon never made rims, desmond made rims. spoon rebadged them, so in that respect spoons arent really real either are they. u said light and cheap, ..add durable, and theres your reason. i got mine through a friend for cost. hmm around 300..that leave me with another grand to do something else.
