try re-installing it. could be a falty belt too. that, and too much tension, or... unbalanced pulley(s)?

when the belt is tightened the belt should be able to turn just enough to see the other side

my alternator belt did this to me a while back. i DID replace it and i didnt tighten it as much. still on there til this day. good luck

There should only be 1/4 inch deflection in an accessory belt upon installation. That means that if you push on it, you should be able to move it approximately 1/4 of an inch before it becomes rather tense. If it's difficult to flex from the get go, you've over tightened it. Not a difficult fix, luckilly.

make sure that your alternator is lining up with your crank pulley....looks like your alternator may be sticking out farther than your crank

I think something is cutting into it. It is only happening on one side and on the end of the belt. If it isn't rubbing and the tension is ok, it may be the pulley.
