Default why is my hose sucked in?

i was about to clean my engine today and when i looked at my upper radiator hose, it was all sucked in, if you cant picture what im saying, let me know, ill go take a pic... so i let it run, and it idled fine and did not overheat. it eventually expanded to what it should look like, then i shut it off and 10 min later its sucked thin again... any ideas/experiences with this ? thank you

How long has it been since the last time you changed out your hoses? Maybe the hoses have gotten really soft and its about time for a change.

also replace the radiator cap!!!! if your hoses collapse your cap is definatly not doing its job. as the engine and cooling sytem cool your cap allows for coolant to re-enter the radiator from the overflow bottle... when this is not allowed to happen hoses will collapse
