why is my car soooo slow?
hey guys i just bought a 2000ex that had a b16a swap all ready done... my question is why is the car so slow, it runs good around town, buy you have to get on it hard to even change lanes. I got beat today by a CX hatch,, i know thats not right. I makes a lot of RPM's and a lot of noise , but does not go any where.. I think tommrow im going to check the timeing.. no codes, runs and idles just fine, every thing works.. Just weired i have to floor it hard and hold it there to get to 80mph to set the cruise. Other then checking timing dont know what to check..here is a pic of the engine. Note: this is exacly how i got the car.
Thanks for the help.

You have a 15 second car: it's not fast. The fact that it's not running 100% isn't helping, but don't expect to be blown away when it's fixed. B16's suck.

Re: (DeadEnd9009)
having to floor your car to do 80 is not normal. I have an EJ8 with a b16 in it and it's not fast but it does get up and go. What ecu are you running? has the car ran like this since you bought it?

well you're on the right track,
check ign/cam timing,
also if you can, hook up a vacuum(boost) gauge and see how much vacuum it makes at idle.
and do a compression test.

What ECU is it running and is it throwing any codes?

not for nothing but if my swap did come with p/s and ac i would have kept it in.. it only weights about 6pounds and it adds some luxury to your honda.. its not really an ideal weight reduction
ideal weight reduction = no rear seats, paneling, and spare w/ goodies..also if you have the heatguard for your headers you can take that off..my jdm 4-1 weighed 4lbs

15sec car aint that slow anyways,
it's plenty to have fun in.
sure you wont be spanking anything really fast,
but you wont be noticing any problems getting up to 80mph either..

Dude enough with that crap. You don't need a 14 second car to get up to 80 casually. My 16 second Toyota Slowrolla gets to 80 in 4th gear casually not even half throttle. B16's pull on my Slowrolla at that speed so something is definitely up with his car.
A few things:
How many miles on the swap? Does it have a B16A transmission? If it has an LS transmission that explains why considering how tall the gearing is. Does your car rev high when you floor it, but then slowly down rev and then start accelerating? That's the clutch slipping.
You shouldn't lose to a stock CX whether you have a "slow" b16A or not, even a stock EX would smoke a CX.
