Why does my heater-controls not allow any cold air in?
There is only one selection for my heater; HOT. I can't make the slider let in any cool air. It's kinda gay.
Thanks
Matt
EDIT: I can move the slider, but it still wont let any cool air in.
Thanks

Under the dash there is a cable going from the a/c controls to the firewall, and then to the heater valve. It has most likely came off of its tab. Just get under the dash and look to see if any cables aren't connected to anything.

sweet! thanks brotha! I did it today. little metal hook that detached from the little metal roatating thingy.
Nobody told me a ****ing rats-nest worth of **** would blow into my grill when I engaged the cold-air though :irk:
I fixed my blown brake light, and hooked up a speaker i didn't realize was disconnected also. Damn it feels good to fix your car ya know? It's a good feeling.

ya man I had like... insulation, dead bugs, leaf bits and crumbles etc (actually, my left vent is currently clogged by a big wad of nastiness)... it was crazy! but well worth it!!

you have a del sol, right? or is this a different car? if so, the del sol vents all pop right out easily and you could suck it out with a shop vac.
you'll also want to open the heater core casing up and vacuum that out, and pull the blower motor and vacuum that too. It was pretty easy and took care of all my problems.

Well I have both cars, but I'm reffering to the Civic.
Yes, I know the del sol vents pop out easy. It's nearly driven me to insanity on numerous occasions.
But should I do the same with the civic? Take out the vents and shop vac it? Could this be why my heat is flaky and not too terribly hot?

if there's leaves in the heater core housing i would imagine that would damper the heating abilities of your heater (i know i know, department of redundancy department... lol)

Re: Why does my heater-controls not allow any cold air in?
Hmm. Now I'm somewhat motivated to do this. How do I suck this ratsnest uglynastyinsulatingpackingbullshlt out of the heater core?
How does it get in the core in the first place?

idk how they get in the core
to open it up you get under the dash and that big plastic box under the passenger side should have some screws on it... you just gotta look around and figure it out by looking at it.
idk if you can take it out, but i know you can separate the two halves and stick a vacuum extension in there... i sucked up tons of dirt and leaves when i did it

Ok I took the blower motor out. Definately some nasties in it. Got a TON of **** out of the motor and the vents.
