On my 1998 ex when my car idels it will drop below 1k some time just above 0 and my hood will shake and make a loud noise. If i go out side and put one finger on the hood it stops making the noise. I also tried adjusting the rubber mounts that the hood sits on in the front. Could it be that the bolts that the hood connects to are loose? And from inside my car the steering wheel will shake a little. Can i just adjust the tb? Or will the computer reset it? Also could some one show me a picture of the tb because i'm not sure which screw it is? Also I don't know if is my front strut bar but, after i installed it some times i hear a squeaking noise coming from the engine at idle it sounds like a mouse but i can hear it inside the car. But with all these funny noises the car seem fine while im driving it. Also i'm due for a timing belt change which im going to due soon when i move the car will have a 108xxx and it will be the first time the belt was changed it think. I bought the car used at 95xxx and i doubt that they changed it. Any help would be great. thanks.

As has been said to me many times on the issue of funny noises in my Civic: Welcome to the world of Hondas!
Just get the required maintenence done and ask if there is anyhting abnormal about your car. As long as your CEL isnt on and you arent throwing a code and your engine still runs, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Thats a ton of miles on a car that new.

I do have a code but its p0133 and that is a problem with the o2 sensor. But the 02 sensor was replaced a year ago. The dealer told me it could be the ecu. So i thaught i would buy a cheap used one or send it to get tuned but i only have an i/h/e set up on a stock d16y8. Next year i'm going to get a swap i hope that the k series will be a little cheaper and easier to install.

I had that exact same problem. I adjusted those rubber things and it stopped that loud rattling from my hood. But the idle problem...well...

I raised them untill they almost come out and it still happens.

Well i popped my hood and it still made the same noise?!? So what the hell it sounds like it was coming from the right side of the car by the belts? When i go to change my timing belt i'm going to change all the other belts with it.

Please don't flame on this idea but i have a digital voice recorder do you think if i record the type of noise someone would be able to figure it out?

is it like a rattling? Do you have your heat shield on your exhaust manifold? See if the manifold is cracked

no i changed my stock manifold for a dc sports 4-1 ceramic so i don't have a heat shield. The noises seem to come from the right side of the engine bay.
