Hmm, that makes sense. The inside edge just looked like the pointy style of the 99-00 to me, rather than the rounded edge of the 96-98.

the body lines are shitty, especially in the front end. looks to me like the front end may be hanging on a 99-00 core support. snap a picture of your interior. cloth patterns and radio bezel will also help establish year. i'd also be interested in seeing the vin stickers on the panels. it has most certainly been hit tho, carfax misses a lot.... body lines would not look like that on an accident free car.

Yes I know the body lines are shitty. That's obvious, it's a beater, but like I said it has been in a few dingers, just not in a major accident that needed any replacement parts. I will go and check on the car some more tomorrow or so when I put get the new parts and system. I'm going to take it to a body shop and see if there is any obvious tinkering and modifications/fabrications, but I hardly have time for that since I have a few other cars to work on and other projects. Hopefully it's as simple as the first owner replacing the front and rear.

that is the correct climate control for a 99=00, the fabric on the door panel is correct as well. the controls are swappable, but i seriously doubt someone would go thru the headache on a stock, automatic car. if you are certain the car has never been hit, i'd lay money that it was stolen. 99-00 trunks/tail lights and front ends are sought after and easily sold upgrades for 96-98 models.

if you can, open the hood and take pictures of the headlights where they line up with the core support, the grille where it attaches to the core support, and whatever vin stickers are there. the 99-00 core support is visibly different.

I think there's something fishy about that car, like it's been put together. The car is definitely a '96-98. Headlights and tail lights/trunk are different.
