just a guess here....the si has a closer ratio tranny, so idiots that speed on the freeway are spinning higher rpms thus using more gas.

Who's they? According to consumer guide, its about the same.

DC GSR
dohc I4 1.8 / 109 170 128 5-speed manual: 25/31 Consumer guide tested: 5-speed manual: 28.3

EM1
dohc I4 1.6 / 97 160 111 5-speed manual: 26/31 Consumer guide tested: 5-speed manual: --

But also the S4C tranny 5th gear is much shorter so...

the si has a lower fd ratio of 4.44 so it's gonna eat a little more gas than the gsr because the engine is going to turn higher rev's at any given speed.

It's the close gear ratio.

It's not the damn VTEC. If you're driving for MPG you shouldn't even be aware of the VTEC.

Blah....

It's mostly if not all the driver.

People don't buy a GSR and look for the best MPG. That's why there's the Z1...

Wow, 26 for the low. I tend to get 31-33 city, and 36-38 highway.
