The heat resistant tape in this picture is used to protect the steering ball joint and the ABS sensor on that ITR.
The ITR belongs to a member on the h-tech ITR board.

Over kill IMO, Unless he plans on entering the "12 hours of Sebring", "24 hours of Daytona" or the "24 hours of lamans"

Definitely not overkill. Look in the ITR forum for a guy named Willard. He goes through brakes like most people go through gas. He's posted about his brakes many, many times. I think he's the one who shed light on the whole autozone brake rotor idea.
