Because you spelled VTEC wrong and the Honda Gods hate you.

You didn't even take your time to type the word SURGE in the search page. WOW.
I typed the word SURGE, hit the search button, and the SECOND result of the search is a thread titled, " THE END OF ALL Idle Surge - Bounce - etc Problems Thread " .

Good luck

Both VTEC and V-TEC are correct by Honda's literature.

This isn't the first time there has been this argument. Why don't you search for it?

anyway to answer the question its the fast idle valve. pull your intake tube off and stick your finger over the bottom hole inside your throttle body. bet u it stops. if you dont understand what hole i am talking about, take the tube off, look at the throttle body from the passenger side fender. there will be 2 holes a little smaller than a dime. one on the top left and one on the bottom left, inside the TB itself. cover the bottom one, while the car is surgeing. best way to fix is to fill with jb weld. there are write ups about this

your boy got lucky, a knock sensor has nothing to do with surgeing.
