yea its not uncommon to see a small rock shoot up and shatter a headlight even if it is abs plastic. that one in the picture is not the best showing...they should be around 90-100% taped so in the event of the lense breaking it wont be all over the track

its not for autox's its only for track days
and yes its because if there is contact the headlight will shatter and possibly shred tires, then more accidents happen.
and that picture is a HORRIBLE job of taping the headlight, i dont know how that got through tech...
