i would agree with this to an extent, however, there are certain times where the return on investment curve no longer makes sense.
i would suggest a magnaflow exhaust. They are similarly priced and i have heard excellent things about them. Also check out: http://www.accordinglydone.com, kteller's website. He sells mandrel bent piping you can match to your own choice of pan for a good price. Both offer inexpensive alternatives for quality cat-backs

My miata came with an OBX header, and at first I was a little disappointed, but I left it on as I did not have the cash to immediatly replace it. The other week I was working on the car and I noticed that the welds on the thing are not that bad, and that for what it probably cost it is not a bad header and the gains from it are noticible as I have driven my friends miata and the only difference is our miatas is that he has the stock header and I have an OBX header. Even though I thought I would never say this OBX headers get thumbs up from me. There exaust systems on the other hand still sound like **** and will never make it onto any car I own.

I have both the muffler and the header. i would say the muffler will give u deep medium tone add the header it will make the sound go deeper. As far gains i would +5hp for the header and about +2gain for the exhaust. I do recommend the header though and the muffler is decent its like the guys say u get what u paid for. Sorry no pics bro.

My buddy has an OBX/Tenzo R rear section on his b16 EF Si and it's not that bad, but he did pay $200 just for the rear section 4 years ago.. I wouldn't get another one though, they've gotten worse over the years.

i got an old school obx catback on my civic. it sounds good as hell. nice and deep and not raspy or bumblebee sounding. however, this was a OLD SCHOOL obx and i got this in like 2000. i heard it on a civic before i bought it so i knew it sounded good. my friend also had a obx header on his 2nd gen teg and it sounded pretty good. this was in like 2002. im scared to get their new stuff cuz i havent heard any of them. they look good, but that might be it. i think im gonna go with apexi N1 on my next car.

just go get custom exhaust if you are looking for inexpensive. i paid 190 to have my exhaust done (2.5" catback) plus the cost of the muffler.

Re: whos got an obx (jasonscivic)
I replaced my A'PEXi N1 Turbo muffler with an OBX oval muffler on my ex-boosted Civic. I had no complaints. I used it for a year without any problems, and it sounded almost exactly like my N1 Turbo except slightly deeper. The quality was good, and there were no signs of rusting when I took it off (returned to stock). Looked like new but slightly dustier. It gets a from me. I think it's in my parents' shed right now. Probably all banged up to hell from the **** that they pile up in there.

Re: (hypedlunatic)
I had an OBX muffler and a custom 2.25" cat back on my SR20DE-powered Nissan Sentra. The muffler itself was good quality and it sounded really deep. I can't comment on the full cat-back system, though.
