Who wants to make $20 bucks? (tried everything and still no spark from dizzy)
ok here's the scenario. i got done swapping in a b18c1 about 2 weeks ago and since then i haven't been able to get spark. the motor turns and it gets fuel. i've narrowed it down to my dizzy and i've tried numerous things:
-swapped out coil
-swapped out ignitor
-checked all my grounds
-checked all my fuses
-swapped out for another ignitor
-made sure all grounds are metal to metal
-installed msd sci w/ ss blaster
-checked my spark plug wires
-checked cap and rotor
---only thing i haven't done yet is completely swap out the dizzy for a totally different one. seemed like i wouldn't have to just as long as the coil and ignitor was swapped instead.
---maybe my dizzy is shot, but i didn't installed the msd correctly. heres what i basically did:
-big red wire to + terminal on battery
-big black wire to - terminal on battery
-orange wire to SS blaster
-black wire to SS blaster
-red wire to + terminal on coil
-white wire to - terminal on coil
i thought for sure my car would start up after i installed the msd, but still same thing. as of right now i am complete stumped. if anyone has an idea for me to try and it works i'll paypal you $20. having no car for the last 2 weeks sucks and i'm getting pretty desperate
- $20 to person who helps me solve my problem

when i swapped the motor i didn't touch the timing of anything. i checked for the spark by pulling out one of the spark plug wires and connecting a spare spark plug to the end of it and cranking up the motor. no spark is visible.

you crank it while the spark plug is touching a ground, correct? i had the same problem about two or three weeks ago. turned out it was a bad ignitor/coil, ordered a dizzy off ebay, and swapped in these parts, started right up.

give the timing a look at. check the TDC and ur cam gears. cant hurt to look, cuz that was the last thing i checked b4 i was gonna take it in to the mechanic and it turned out to be it. cant hurt. if not then maybe u just need a new dizzy?

when i did my swap, the only wires i unplugged and plugged back in was the shock tower harnesses. switched out my module twice, and the coil about 3 times. i didn't have to run any wires at all. only thing wire-related that i did was re-wire my vafc.

triple checked that too
-sad thing is i actually drove the car i pulled the motor from and it ran fine, before i swapped it.

it can't be my main relay, because if it was the main realy i would have fuel problems too. that's what i thought too.

I belive that you can take an ECU to honda, and they can run a scan on it to see if it is working propery. Call up honda. I know that you can do that with other manufactors.

Had the identical problem in my brother's gsr. Turned out the brand new MSD Blaster SS was the culprit. We swapped it out with a Bosch coil and everything worked perfectly. That was after we swapped buttons, ignitors, msd ignition boxes, and wires.

Not if it came from the ecu you cant smell it unless you open it or pull up the carpet. You check the ECU? Like open it up and look at the board, itd show a burn spot or itd smell like crap.

You take the covers off of the ecu and look at the green board on BOTH sides? If thats ok then rule out it being the ECU
