Mine has springs between the header and test pipe. They are done up tight and the springs are really compressed. Don't think there is much room for flex/movement. Don't know this is bad or not.

you should always use the springs or else your going to end up stretching the pipe and getting holes in it.

yup... it's designed like that beacuse your engine will move slightly, and that isolates movement from the rest of the exhaust system.

There are flex pipes that don't require springs.

My muffler man said that he could not reuse the springs so he installed my test pipe without them. I have not had a problem in two years (knock on wood).

One of those long *** bolts shook loose that hold my header and test pipe together, so I went to "Home Depot Motorsports" to get a replacement. And I lost it again. Couldn't figure out why. Then I got those springs after my 4th atempt. No problems now. The springs help dampen vibration, and movement from the motor. It kept shaking my bolts loose.

What if you have springs but they are very tight. Light nearly fully compressed?
