who makes the best cf hood??
im ready to buy a carbon fiber hood, and i've looked at alot, but cant decide wich one is the best. who makes the best one?? ultra uv protectent, rolled edges, perferably double sided cf, PERFECT FIT ect..

I personally only buy Vis carbon fiber hoods and suggest them to my customers because the lay out is always perfect and fitment is best IMO.

how fast does the VIS CF hood fade? or does it fade and take off the clearcoat?? my cf wing is all faded and all the clearcoat is comming off and it looks nasty..jw if the VIS is kinda like that or not

i've had my VIS CF hood for about 1.5 years now... no fades or clearcoat blemishes w/ the exception of a rock chip. mine is garage kept though.
EDIT: civictildeath.... that quote about wet socks sounds like it came from one of my buddies in IL. the kid would have an aneuryism if that happened.

i agree if u can afford it, juss get spoon. but if u cant jus get vis. vis is good quality n good fitment. if ur interested in vis u can also hit me up.

Benen Industries makes good stuff too. But for the price, VIS definatly. If you have $1000 to spend, go with the Spoon.

A spoon hood is a 1x1 weave, and a Vis hood is a 2x2 twill weave. Here is a pic I stole from another thread showing both (I don't know what brand the 2x2 hood in the pic is). The 2x2 will have that diagonal zig-zag effect (that I think looks nicer). A 2x2 twill weave also allows the carbon to lay much more flat inside the resin matrix than the 1x1, meaning the resulting part will be lighter & stronger (all other things being equal). Keep in mind that the hood is not a load bearing structure, so strenght is not really important here...
