So im doing a tune up on my 99 si i just pruchased a few weeks back. Take off the distributor cap and prepare to take off the rotor. No screw there so im like WTH? how is this thing hanging on ? then there it was a epoxy like substance i could see inside of the plastic. How the hell do i get this thing off?

I figured you meant the brake rotor by the title.
After working in parts for a few years I'm not surprised at all. People are cheap. Perhaps the distributor was damaged in some way already? I hope that's not the case.
Good luck on managing to remove it. Not sure what would be the best course of action.

I would try a dremal tool with a cut off disc. Slowly make several cuts length wise and break it off in small peaces.

Some people are simply just stupid. They didn't want to go to their local honda dealer and buy a new screw (or buy a new rotor which usually comes with the screw)

Re: Who the hell Glues a rotor on?
id say try like hitting it with a hair dryer and warm up the glue/epoxy and see if you can pull it off slowly.
other wise i'd say just get a new dizzy from king distrib. not the best option but thanks to morons it might have to be the solution.

it wouldnt be the screw that has to be replaced though, the hole on the dizzy would strip out and would need repairing with a helicoil or oversized bolt or something

lol.. never ceases to amaze me what people will do.
i'd leave it on there until it absolutely required changing. then i'd cut it off in pieces.

I suggest getting a small puller like a steering wheel puller and attach it to the rotor. But that dremel idea is good as well.

Even a parts store rotor would come with the new screw as well.
EDIT: Autozone rotors do not come with a new screw.

Hell yea i mean whats a ne rotor cost? 10 bux tops? Dremel seems like the best option...Im worried bout pieces dropping down in there. Rediculous that someone would do that. Only good news today is i got my NGK blues on. Luckily its still in decent condition. Little burnt on the end but, still workable...last til i get a solution.

Anyways just break it off. Your changing it anyways so crack it off.

Once you break it off, you can use some Jasco paint stripper to soften the epoxy and remove the residual epoxy from the shaft.
I've actually purchased an aftermarket rotor and the screw didn't come with it. Tried to use my OEM screw, but the rotor's screw hole wasn't countersunk enough, the screw ended up hitting the shroud. Returned it and bought an OEM rotor, which had the screw AND the shroud. But yeah, I can't believe some clown actually epoxied a rotor on. Even a hardware store could match up the screw.

Re: Who the hell Glues a rotor on?
not a whole lot to "mess with" inside a distributor. only a few sensors that are either there, or not, and either hooked up, or not. nowhere for them to go or mis-adjust.
