Default Who has removed/replaced their core support?

I have a 96 civic 4 door parts car and a 97 Civic Coupe. The coupe has front end damage and needs the core support replaced.

I have the support on my 96. What is the easiest way to take it off? Drill the welds? Sawzall? Any help is appreciated.

Since I couldn't find my grinder when I was taking off my core support on my 94 hatchback, what I did was took a chisel and a punch to the welds. The welds weren't that strong and it took about 5 hits on each weld and they popped. Then I borrowed my buddies grinder (still couldn't find mine) and cleaned it up and painted where I grinded so it wouldn't rust. (I'm having to put new inside fender pannels on, so I couldn't weld on my core support that day.) Where the core support is connect to the fenders will be tough, because you don't want to bend the fenders. unless their already bent. I hope this helps out a little.

I just took mine of in a 93 Hatchback. Had to use a chisel and a crowcar to pry back a little. Was more work than I though it would be but each one should pop out if you pry something in between.

I just replaced the core support on my EG which was a lot easier than I thought. Just drill out all the welds with a drill and a good bit then get an air chisel to get it off.

go to parts store and find a spot weld cutter fot your drill, it makes lifa alot easier, you shouldnt need to cut anything.

this aint no 57 chevy man Welding it is going to get you your structural integrity and reduce flex. The core is bringing the sides together and keeping them true so I wouldn't do anything but weld it. Asking if it can be done though...I am sure it can...I wouldn't though personally.

just wondering if anyone else has done it. I'm sure the front rebar does a good enough job with structural support.

i know people do this with their mk1 rabbits.
