Re: white smoke coming out of valve cover breather?? (SteveoBA8)
did compression and leakdown test today. Compression was
cyl#1 80
cyl#2 175
cyl#3 70
cyl#4 60
so it cant be the head gasket, or all the cylinders would be low. right?? is there a way to pin point the problem without tearing motor apart?

Broken ringlands buddy^^. Generally speaking, the ball park of 175psi is normal. 80, 70, and 60PSI is bad... bad... bad.
Let me guess, FMU for "fuel management??"

Actually, the white smoke is not moisture. The white smoke is the result of the charge escaping past the broken ringlands and pressurizing the crank case, and escaping out the breather. Thats my educated guess w/ nasty compression results like that.

in my other car... usually when it sits for a day or 2 it smokes for a little bit out of the breathers til it warms up... then afterwards its fine.. i always thought it was all the moisture from inside the motor from sitting athought i am talkin about a carburated v8

You're correct in saying that white smoke almost always means moisture. However I highly doubt that your compression was that low either. I think the guy that said the ringlands said it best.

Pull the head and take a look.
Can't fix whats wrong until you figure out what it is
