While test drive my eg .smoke coming out
i was test driving my eg for the first time after i have done the swap.i test drove it around my neighborhood for like 10 mins. while i was driving i can smell something buring and i pulled back to my drive way.i saw smoke coming in to cabin from shift gate area and from engine bay.so i shut off the car and opened the hood to see what went wrong.but everything seems ok. and smoke was coming from under between intake manifold and firewall..maybe from where down pipe and cat met...however car still fires up and there is no check engine light or anything on.the only 2 reasons i can think off are the wire extendion that i made that goes 2 inches under the intake manifold to the driver side firewall connectors cause i have a jdm engine and the plugs and connectors are totally opposite to usdm eg.and the wires was hanging 2 inches under intake manifold with no support.
but i checked all the wires and they all seem fine.no melt or anything.and i was under impression that only header produces heat and intake manifold is much cooler than exhaust manifold.
secnond. possibility is i had a new cat converter that welded on by a muffler shop.cat converter needs a break in or ?
other than those 2 facotrs. i cant think of anything that goes wrong and cause the smoke.

have you checked for fluid leaks onto the header/cat area? when my LS/VTEC started leaking oil from the oil feed it would smoke when it dripped onto the header

If its white smoke keep your eyer on your coolant it mught be leking onto the block/exhaust coolant smokes with a white colo, oil smokes with a blue tint. As stated new cats tend to smoke for a little while as well from the rust preventitive applied on the oustide to keep it from rusting before installation.

thanks guys.i will lift the car up and let it run at idle and crawl under it to see whats going on today when i get home from work.i hope it is just the new cat.cause the smoke came up right from under the shift gate.i have the whole interior pieces ripped out so i saw the smoke came in from shift gate area not from ac vent..thanks.
