Where to wire ECONO light to in EK cluster? d15b 3-stage, Vi-RS cluster..
Sooo, I have the p2j ecu that has lean burn mode and I want to get it to illuminate my "ECONO" light in my cluster. I know already that the pin in the ECU that should give the light a ground is A30, but I'm not sure where to run the wire to in the cluster.
Here's the RS cluster I've got:
Here's a diagram of the cluster's wiring minus the econo light...
However, there is a green plug on the back of the cluster that has three wires to it and it lies almost directly behind the econo light...but when I put a ground to the black wire on it I blew the fuse, so I figured I'd better ask before I run out of 7.5 fuses. LOL
I'm guessing this is an automatic, but it has the same green plug in the same spot, so that must be something else...Would putting a ground to the empty pins hurt or should I try the unused lights from that diagram? Will I blow another fuse?

Sheesh.
Props to you for swapping a d15b 3-stage to begin with. I've always thought those were cool as hell.
I don't know the answer, so free bump. Hopefully someone here can help. Really though, if you've got the cluster pinout diagram, you're already miles ahead of most of the 92-00 Civic forum.

Thanks guys! Hasn't been easy tracking down everything needed since m/t 3-stages are rare, but I'm enjoying it!
numba1- I want to do it because it's a function of the ECU and it's a light built in to the cluster since it's the same engine that came out of the Vi-RS. It would be nice to know when I enter lean burn mode, even though I can feel it most times, so that I can drive so that I achieve maximum fuel economy. These engines are known to get 40-50 mpg stock and upwards of 50 boosted. There are several factors that the ecu processes to let the engine "lean burn," so with a light I will know for sure when I'm getting the crazy af ratios of up to 20:1

I was going to say...this picture "is" the rear of an auto cluster. The black plastic section on the left is filled with a string bulbs to light up park, drive neutral, ect......that black box actually clips right off. I've seen them on clusters where people have swapped gauges and just left it on the back and not plug anything into it

i can't say for sure how to wire it up but i can tell you what would make sense to me based on how the current appears to be flowing on the back of the cluster. run key-on power to one pin, and the ground wire from A30 to the other.

thx for the reply, how would I run key-on power to one pin? Also, could I just test it with a ground wire so that I don't have to be moving for the A30 to give it a ground?

Re: Where to wire ECONO light to in EK cluster? d15b 3-stage, Vi-RS cluster..
I have a DX EK hatch without cruise control.I also have an EX EK gauge cluster with a cruise control light that I can't use.
So this is how I wired the econo light to my cruise control light.
The green plug on the rear of the gauge cluster is for the cruise control.
The yellowish tan wire on the green plug is constant power.Wire it to the battery or tap it into the door locks wire on your fuse box.( I don't have auto door locks).
Then wire the red blue wire on the green plug to A30 on the ecu. This is the ecu triggered ground. (I have an P2j-003 ecu).
Then your all set.The CC light is now your econo light. You can just cut the other wires on the green plug and tape them up as they are not needed.
