ey i have an eclipse CD5000 cd player. it is very sweet. and it cost a lot of money.

but i can't mount it in the standard radio slot cuz the head unit faceplate folds down to get at the cd slot. there isn't enough room in the oem radio hole....

the cd player is too big for the glovebox...

where else can i mount my cd player?

otherwise you'll either have to remake the center which would suck.

People still use CD's??? Lol, just get the iPod adapter or hook up any audio player via RCA to 3.5mm jack cable.

i have my 6.5" woofers custom boxed/ported/mounted into my cubby holes.

this is gettin complicated.

maybe i have to sell my eclipse deck and get a new one, but that would suck.....

anyone else? and no i dont use cd,s - just the hdd based mp3 players but still nice to have.

i have the pioneer deh6000ub. the face is motorized and flips down. its features cd,mp3,usb,aux input. oh and it fits perfectly without hitting the radio cover and console on the sol

looks like i have to buy a new head unit.

anyone have a creative spot to put the one i bought? i custom designed the whole system around this cd player... now i can't use it :@

You don't have much room...unless you eliminate your AC. But who would want to do that with this freakin' heat.

either that or get rid of the center ducts. theres really not alot of room to switch things up without getting rid of something or super custom making it.

uh. i think i'm screwed.

i think ill just get a new headunit or somethin else...

my eclipse isn't turning the screen on. i powered it up and it would beep and respond to every button and play cds ETC but there was nothing on the screen.

enuf of it's phaggotry. it will be expunged.

after further research and development i have decided that this is the best option.

the tape will allow me to move the headunit for access of climate control

in addition - it is better because the control will be angled toward the driver for changing tracks while double clutch downshifting into turns in excess of 300mph.

yes research and development. i would like to thank honda tech for all of it's help and support throughout the years, and especially in this thread.

my complex issue was quickly solved by the mental reasoning power of HT

It would take some minor fiberglass fabrication but you could lose the door over the existing mount and extend the mounting points so the the cd player is almost flush. Once you extend the mounts you can get complex and fiberglass a trim panel to fill the void around the cd player that will be left when the door is removed or you could trim a piece of abs plastic to fill the void.

to be perfectly honest I settled on my own fiberglass solution, if i don't get another HU altogether. i'll post up some pics in my build thread when i get it done.

btw the hard part is matching the textures of the existing plastics to the fiberglass panel around the radio... even a bondo/rubbing alc mixture with an impression fabric won't be very close.

I've had pretty good luck with using vinyl to match. In one of my builds I covered a fiberglass box with black vinyl and it mated up pretty well. I just tried to match the vinyl that is used on the rear speaker covers.

hey thanks man that didn't cross my mind. i will look into that and get some pics up when i finally pull it off and do it.

however living in hawaii i drive with the top down a lot and i like having the option of hiding my CD player from sight. it's also strange weather here, i can park in the hot sun without a cloud in sight and walk into a store, 10 mins later i come out and it's pouring rain. good to have a weather-guard too..

that's also why i posted up lookin for alternative locations, even somewhere i could lock the CD player up.. but if thieves are determined they could just pull my speakers out of the doors as well....
