So basically, all I need to do is take it off, prime and paint? That seems fairly easy...I guess I would have to use some kind of high temperature engine paint. Maybe this is a better way to go. Are they pretty easy to remove? Dont want to mess anything up....THANX!

If all you want to do is dress it up, then paint yours.
Cheap, easy, looks great if you take your time on it

Did you just mask of the "HONDA" on the valve cover? Looks very nice btw! I would like to do mine like that, except in black.

Nah, painted it all:
Then sanded the "HONDA" down:
Easy stuff. Just used high temp engine paint. The color was "Ford Red" which is actually a bit too oranged really. There's also a darker red they have there that I'll use next time.

Do you have to take the black off if your cover has never been painted b4, and just spray on top of that?

Thanks for the link to the "how-to" page mantis6t9! It is very helpful...I didn't get to mine today, but hopefully I can tomorrow. About reoving the valve cover - you just take out the plug wires and bolts, right? I've neveer done it before, just want to be sure! Thanks again for the great link...peace

If you're going to go through the trouble of painting your valve cover you might as well strip all the old paint of. This way you will get a better finnish, you can also sand down all the rough spots.
To take off the valve cover yes all you do is remove the spark plug wires, breather hose, and the valve cover bolts. Be careful with these bolts when putting them back on, they cant take much torque or they will snap. Also after painting and letting it dry i suggest about 4 coats of clear coat. Good luck.

The paint i used is listed in the " HowTo" i wrote if you want to check it out. Yes the 1200deg paint needs longer to cure and can get pretty messy. You have to heat most of them for them to cure other wise they will just smear. I used 500deg paint and have had no problems. The best way to sand is by hand this way your less likely to mess up. I think i mentioned this before but i highly recomend puting 3 or 4 coats of clear on it after the paint has dried. I didn't do it on mine this is why im going to repaint it. I might do it some sort of gun metal or grey just for a change. LAter..
