i get my studs at a hardware store or autozone or something like that, way cheaper and just throw some thread locker and double nut them to put them on.

Yeah I paid $3 per stud from honda, it's cheaper to go to a hardware store. Just make sure you get the rite threading.

Ebay has some nice ones in chromolly and such. I'd take a look before you pay OEM prices for normal shit. I'll check and see if I can find any for you https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif.

EDIT: I can't seem to find any on Ebay currently, but I know you can go to Lowes of Home Depot and get some grade-8 stainless studs in the thread pattern and pitch that you need.

thanks a lot, i appreciate it.

its for a b16a3 head btw.

nice Zim avatar lol

but overall, it really doesnt matter what they are made of or if they are factory right? as long as it holds the intake and exhaust amnifolds on?

thread lock is pointless as it burns off after liek 250 degrees F. I would use only Honda OEM studs because they are rated to take the temperatures of an engine more than a basic hardware store stud.

I would try a salvage yard. Take your vice grips and tools required to remove the bolts. I would also take a shop rag to protect the threads on the ones you will be removing. They should just thread out of the block of the engine you are removing them from.

Brief Fastener Tutorial

Just an fyi in fasteners:

L9 spec = Ultra hardened US spec
Grade 8 = Hardened US Spec
Grade 5 = US Spec

Stainless is not neccesarily Grade 8, and most Grade 8's are not stainless. (mostly zinc coated)

Property class 12.9 = metric (similar to US L9)
Property class 10.9 = metric (similar to grade 8)
Property class 8.8 = Metric (similar to grade 5)

With that said, and me working in the fastener industry and owning a honda, I would recommend going to honda. They do their sh!t right. nuff said.

PS - I busted an exhaust stud and said fuk it.
