Where do I find a 12 volt wire hot all the time or only hot when car is running?

Default Where do I find a 12 volt wire hot all the time or only hot when car is running?

I have a 1997 Honda Civic. I am looking for a 12 volt wire that is Hot all the time. (Has power even when the car is off.) Another wire that is Hot only when the car is running. (Has power when the car is on.) Thanks

check the various extra wires and male connections on the fuse box or use the wires going to the ignition switch.

...assuming you are looking for one in the cabin that is...

I am in the middle of wiring a LED for my alarm. Yes this is for interior.

check the fuse box on the top it has 3 or 4 male ends you can slide a fitting over and i believe one of those is constantly positive

Could also splice the 2 going to radio.

radio is not a constant when the key is off to use form an alarm so i would not recommend that. you would rather run a wire straight from the battery

The Wht/Blu radio wire is hot all the time.

The Blu/Yel IG1 wire from the ignition switch is only hot when the key is in ON(II).

Thanks for the quick replay. Yeah RonJ is right I ended up doing exactly what he said but I tested each wire.
