Where did you mount your amp?
Just finsihed putting in my basic system (2 8inch subs and amp). I was going to mount the amp on the back of one of the rear seats. However, I don't like the idea of putting screws through the carpet there. You guys got any alternatives, not looking for major custom work but something without too much hacking.
I guess I could screw it onto the box.

Re: Where did you mount your amp? (Can't Afford Boost)
Do you have your spare tire in the car? If not i would look to rigging something up down there. It will save you some space and tougher for theft. Just make sure to hide the wires well.

Can't Afford - I prefer a car with manners and some music.
I don't run my spare tire, the box for my 2 8's is much larger than the spare tire well (oversized). I figured something like that would be too custom.

I think he was saying just to put the amp in there.

This is in the wrong forum, but I mounted mine to my box, so when I do my swap I can go to the track and pull it all out at once.

Re: (1 point 6)
If he was saying that then why would he be saying in the dumpster with the rest of his interior?
Anyway, mounting it to the box seems like the best bet for now.
I posted in this forum because it has way more traffic than the sound and security forum.

If you want a really cool spot, not sure if it will fit in a hatchback.... But, Remove the rear interior moldings in the back next the the seats and look to see if you have enough room. First slide the amp in and see if it will fit. If it does. cut pieces of wood and glue them to the sheetmetal. That will allow you to to use screws to hold the amp into the wood. Puting your amp here might require some customization and time but it wont get stollen, in fact no one will no where it is unless you tell them. I put a 4 channel alpine amp in the quarter panel of a 2 door ex. I wish I still had pictures.

Bad idea man. The subs will rattle the amp apart over time. I mounted mine in the floor behind my passenger side seat. Nobody sits back there anyways.

I usually mount them on the back of the rear seats. some people mount them under the front passanger seat, and sometimes on the box itself.

yeah, it will hold. I used some cheap walmart 30 minute epoxy... no rattles, just do it right.

The other thing I am thinking now is installing the 8's in a custom kick panel. That was no heavy *** box and can still run my spare just in case.
Any thoughts on this?
1. Would there be a problem with the ECU
2. I guess I would have to mount the amp under the seat?

Re: (B18CBungy)
lol and if it's cold, it acts somewhat as a seat warmer
little OT: could ou just mount the 8's in panel next to the rear seats, where the optional speakers would go?? Then they are hidden, and dont take up and trunk space
