I am just looking to replace my 19 year old gas tank with an OEM replacement when I get my GSR motor. I see other makes / models in JCW for around $100-150, but NO honda's

If this belongs in the "Best Buys" forum please move it......

is it beneficial to get a new gas tank if the opportunity arose ? say its a cx and i went with an Si sized that would hold more gas and at the same time we get rid of all the sludge that may be have collected through the years ?? anyone every tried this and seen how much crap is in there?

if you just took your tank off, could you clean it? $250+shipping seems like alot for a new tank. also, an si tank will be heavier than your cx tank, most people would prefer a cx tank and i bet if you started searching and posting you could find someone who has an si and replaced it w/ a cx tank... in that case you could buy the si tank for cheap.

its good to get a new tank for your car just because of the fact that there is alot of water in gas now a days, and the water doesnt mix with the gas and so it just sits in your tank and gets stagnent and rust inside your tank, so theres not a lot of sluge but alot of water

my grandfather was actually telling me about a liquid product that you can buy that you pour into a 1/4 full tank of gas. it allows the water to safely mix with the gas and gets burned off in the engine during combustion, then there is no water left in the tank. he said to use it about once a year, i havnt gotten around to it yet, but im sure pepboys or some place like that would carry it. i would make sure its safe first though and there wont be any long term type of engine damage from it.
