What are your goals? Boost?
Why does it matter if it's a JDM d-series? You're going to pay more for something that's almost identical to USDM d-series.
Judging by your second post I get the impression you're throwing hundreds of dollars at an economy engine expecting more than you're ever going to get.

You only answered one part of the question. You have a fairly serious topic with very vague information provided. Help me help you.

d15b all the way. you can get one FOR your vehicle, sohc vtec, and avoid that vtec-E shist 'cause it's not vtec(as we know it). look for "3-stage vtec", i like the 92-95 d15b.

You should just swap in a ls they for like 400-500 $. And without any tuning and just bolting up parts like the manifold will give you very little hp gain if any. Probably going to lose low end torque as well.

Go B series. Throw a B20 bottom end and a gsr head off in that thang and get a tune from someone that knows what the H they are doing. You wont be dissapointed!
