Where to buy all red taillights for EG coupe?
You may remember my taillight post earlier and I have decided that possibly taillights that are completely red would be nice. If these are not available, I will just go with red/clears. I have been unsuccessful so far in finding anybody who makes an all red taillight for my car. Thanks for your help. Please post pics also if you have these on a 2 or 4 door.

Those that you have seen that are all red in color are due to the stock tailights being spray painted over with transparent candy apple red color spray paint.
You can go to a hobby store and pick up a can of Testors candy apple red transparent paint and you have yourself "all red" tailights.

i had a set of all red tail lights on my civic till i decided to trash them.. all we did was take stock tail lights and spray paint them.. they looked decent but it was not the look i was loooking for.. it was unique cause no one else had them.. only tiny problem you will run into that we didnt do was to make a square blocked off so that the reverse lights will light up behind you or its really hard to see..

I would like all reds for my EK. but isn't that kinda illegal to have no clear reverse lights. ???
I would just rather have the ones from an si. I know I can get those....but I am not sure about the eg's.

Transparent candy apple red paint from Testors (model paint), and lots of clear coat.

I agree thats a great job on those taillights. I'm kinda weary of painting lights though. I'm afraid it wouldn't turn out right.

Its Testor's TRANSPARENT candy apple red paint....there is also hot rod red but it doesnt look as good IMO. I purchased it at micheal's(a craft store) take your taillights off of your car, the way I did it was to mask off the parts that are already red, so that only the amber(or clear too depending on what you want to spray) is showing; then you should be ready to spray. It looks alot better if you don't spray the whole taillight. do LIGHT coats.....this paint likes to orange peel. I did 4 or 5 coats....let it dry overnight and reinstall. hope this helps- Jason

I did the exact same thing with mine. About 3 coats of the Translucent Red and 2 coats of Clear Coat!! No peeling or discoloring in the last year. Make sure to clean the areas you are going to paint really good with some alcohol.

What he said, except it actually looks BETTER if you do the entire light. When I originally did it, I have that thick line between the tailight and signal, looked like a chuck of tape or something. So I did it again but I painted the whole light.. takes more time but it comes out looking alot better to me. Just make sure to use pleantly of clearcoat

the lights look good especially since your car is red. I would definatley be paranoid about messing them up...but then you could always just get new ones.

Painting takes too much time and is easy to mess up. What my friend did was pick up some trasparent red vinyl wrap from a sign shop, stretched a piece over the whole taillight, used a hair dryer to shrink wrap the vinyl on to the actual taillight, cut the excess wrap and voila! no need wait for the paint to dry. and if you get sick of it you can peel it off.
