Wheels? Offset, backspacing, etc... Compatability.
I used to work in a tire shop... So, one day this lady comes in wiht a DelSol (I don't remember the year, or whether it was EX, Si, or whatever...)
Anyhow, she buys new rims and tires and leaves her old rims behind (American Racing, unknown or discontinued model. 14 x 5.5 inch, 4 x 100mm Bolt pattern.) She says she'll be back later with a truck to pick up the rims.
A month or two goes by and we clean out the back room. Nobody claims the rims, so I took them... They've been sitting in my basement for a while... I pitched the tires because they were bald, but I believe they were 185-65R14... Not sure though.
My question is, will I know if they fit on a 1993 Civic LX sedan? I can't test fit them without tires, but I cant return the tires if they are messed up from rubbing the strut or fender... I also wanna know if they have a different offset that may have adverse effects on my handling or whatnot. If they will fit, what size tire should I use? I currently have three bent 13 x 5 inch steel wheels.
Thanks.

Re: Wheels? Offset, backspacing, etc... Compatability. (Pele)
C'mon guys, I really wanna pitch these bent steelies.
Synopsis:
Acquired mystery rims without tires, so I cant test fit.
How do I measure offset? Or should I do it based off of backspacing? What offset or backspacing do I need for my 1993 Civic Sedan?
Reccomend tires for a 14 x 5.5 inch rim with ideal offset.
Thanks.

Reccomend a tire size? Or should I go with what comes stock on the Civic EX which comes with 14 inch wheels?
In fact, reccomend a tire type? I might find out when the autocrosses are around here and take it out for a spin... I drive fairly aggressively and would like at least something with good wet traction, if not an all season tire... Or I could put snow tires on the steelies for winter.
