Wheel/tire/spring combo question
Hey all...
I have a set of 15x6.5 rims with 195/50/15 tires. I had the Eibach Prokit which felt good but rode a little high. I replaced the springs with the Neuspeed Race Springs last week, and it looks pretty good but rides horrible. Bounces everywhere and my 3 inch exhaust smashes on every tiny dip in the road.
Also, the shop says they can't adjust the camber any more. I need a camber kit. Well hell, I don't want to buy one.
So, I was thinking I would get some Neuspeed Sport Springs, 16x7 rims, and either 205/50/16 or 205/45/16 tires.
I'm trying to get my car to a good height, make it ride half way decent, and fill up the fender wells all at once.
Here's the spring specs:
Pro Kit (gone and not coming back) 1.5" front 1.3" rear
Neuspeed Race (on and i hate them) 2.5" front 2" rear
Neuspeed Sport (probably going on) 1.7" front 1.5" rear
Now, what I am wondering is will I need a camber kit with the Sport springs and 16" rims? And also, what do most of you guys with EK's use on 16's with similar springs, 45 or 50 series. How do they fill the fender wells?
If any of you are using Neuspeed Sports, how do they ride and handle?

I am in the same predicament(sp). I have Pro kits on my 98 coupe w/ 16x7 rota slipstreams, and the ride is ******* great, but the drop is not aggressive enough for me.
I was thinking about either the sportlines(1.8drop) or Skunk 2 springs (2"), both ride well w/ stock struts, and i heard that anything over 2" drop needs a camber kit, but i don't want to buy one.
Only thing I can think of is getting adjustable's w/ a good strut...that way you can mess around unitl you get what you like. let me know how things work out.

Re: Wheel/tire/spring combo question (FifthGearOnline.com)
Well, I don't want to spend the money on real coilovers and all the others suck. After I got them adjusted, I'd never mess with them again so I would have paid twice as much for my springs as I should have, plus when I have to replace them, I have to pay twice as much again.
So let me ask this. Does anybody run 205 or 215 FIFTY series on a 16 inch rim?

mplex i'm about to goto itr springs on my 99 hatch, currently i'm running some 2.5" sprints and i hate the way it rides i do like that i have no wheel well gap but thats about it. i was wondering how much gap u had with the eibach pros? i know the itrs are good for about 3/4" of a drop. i wonder how big of a gap i will have in my fender well, i'm also running 195-50-15's? any one got pics of this setup? i like the way your car looks i think if u went with a 205-50-15 it would fill the fender up nicely with the eibach pros.

Re: Wheel/tire/spring combo question (mplex2000)
what shocks are you running with the neuspeed races? it might be bouncy if your shocks can't handle the drop or spring rates. i'm running h&r sports, which are pretty similar to the neuspeed sports. i really like the ride and the drop. it's subtle, which i like, and the handling is great... but i only have stock to compare it to. i'm running the springs with neuspeed/koni yellows. they're set to full soft and i only occasionally scrub my 205/50/15's on driveways and such. hope that helps.

I would say I probably had 1.5" to 2" gap with the Pro Kit which was 1.5/1.3 lower than stock. It looked like a 4x4 to me
Here it is with the Prokit:
I think going from a 195 to a 205 on the 50/15 only gives like .25" height increase though.
Also, I'm running the old standby Tokico blues to whomever was asking in the last post

I would check to see how your shocks are when you pull them out again. They should still be good (I have been running the same ones you've been running for about 5 years and the rods still move up fast when you push them in), but you still want to check and be sure. If you do want a smoother ride, the Neuspeed sports ride just a tad bit stiffer than stock, but very nice. For tires, go with 205/45/16's, you might have a slight gap, but it wont be as bad as it was with the pro-kits.

holy crap, the pro kit looks higher than stock. here's mine with h&r sports. my neuspeed/koni's are using stock perch height in front and one notch down in the rear. i might move the rear to the last notch though.

Go for the GROUND CONTROL You can have your ride height anywhere you want and you can order any spring rate you want. I have a 99 coupe with GC and Koni Yellows and the ride if comfortable and I have a little less than a 2 finger width fender gap. I am running 16" rota slips with 205/45 Falken Ziex 512's. I love it, the only thing I want to change is the springs....need to be hella stiffer. The standard rates are damn soft IMO. Good Luck.
