Default Wheel and Tire size for 98 DX Hatch

guys I am interested in the Rota Slipstream 15 inch rims. But i dont know which 15 inch rim and tire to get for my 1998 civic DX hatchback. I dont understand how to read the rim and offset and stuff. Anyone know which rim and tire size is best?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Googled &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The offset of a wheel is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel to the true centerline of the rim. A positive offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is positioned in front of the true centerline of the rim / tire assembly. This in effect brings the tire in to the fender well more. Conversely, a negative offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is behind the true centerline of the rim / tire assembly. This will cause the tire to stick out away from the vehicle.

</TD></TR></TABLE>

15" x 6.5", +40mm offset and 195/50/15 tires. You can also run 205/50/15 tires.

does anyone know the stock 98 civic dx hatchback offset is? i know my tires is 185/65/14 85S, but it dont say the offset for stock.

Also with the 15" x6.5 +40mm offset running 195/50/15 tires, will it decrease speed/performance? Will it be accurate speed/odometer reading? Also is there alot of tire choices available that size? (195/50/15)

I have 195/55/15's on a 99 EJ8 and the speedometer is 3-1/2 mph fast when reading 70mph. Next time around I'm going to change to 195/60/15's to improve accuracy. This my 2nd Civic and both have needed oversize tires to correct the speedometer reading. I had 205/50/15's on a 94 EJ1 but was unhappy with the reduced steering feel and increased wander caused by the 205's. It's possible the 96-00's work better with 205's than 92-95's.

I run 205/50s on my SIs, Speedo is barely off, They are on my 93, And I think it handles and drives ALOT better, That wander you are talking about is evident with any wider performace tire, especially front wheel drive
