Spark Plug Tube Inner Rings Need Replacement...but what about the Bolts?
92 Civic LX with 234,000 miles
I plan on replacing my O-rings for my spark plug tubes(NOT the ones on the valve cover), since there's oil leaking into the tubes.
Quick Question......When I remove the rockers to get to the rings, and replacement the rings...How do I torque to the bolts down? Like how much torque and in what sequence?
Do i use the same sequence as I would do if I was doing a Head Gasket?(just not the torque..that would rip all the bolts off... )

Thanks TomCat! Just what I needed.
I'm THINKING about replacing my valve stem seals as well, I'm not burning any oil but I don't know how old those stem seals are in there.
Would anyone recommend I replace them(came with head gasket I installed weeks earlier)?
If so, can I just put each cylinder on TDC, and replace them without using the rope method or the air compress method? Also..Can I use a hammer hitting a deep socket to get the locks & springs out rather than buying that special spring tool?
I think MK(member) said he did it the TDC way(no rope, no air), but far as I searched....he's the only one to do it that way.

If you aren't burning oil, I wouldn't bother with the seals.
Even with TDC, sure the valves don't fall in but it's a serious pain to get the springs and retainers back into place as the valve will drop by about 1/2 an inch or so.
Without the rope or air to hold the valves up in place, you have to compress the spring way more than you should have to just to fight the keepers back in place.
Honestly, not worth the effort. As well, if you **** up like I did with putting one of the cylinders TDC, you drop a valve and then the head has to come off which is a whole lot of extra work for nothing.
Not burning oil.... Don't bother is my opinion.
Granted this is based on doing the job, messing up on #3 and dropping a valve, and then doing a full head pull and new head gasket and block clean up because of it. And it didn't change a thing as my oil burning is ring related.
