wheel offset question!

wheel offset question!
ok this is gonna seem like a bunch of babbling so just try to stay with me... I drive a 98 civic coupe, I am getting new wheels but want to run a more aggressive offset(want to be more flush) but anyways im getting 16" wheels and i believe my current offset is 42 but wanted something more aggressive, i have willwood 11 1/2 " rotors up front and was just wondering what offset i could run taking in consideration for my brakes and my chasis. i know this wasnt written well but i couldnt think of how else to word it..any help is appreciated..

For a 7" wheel, you generally want about a +40mm offset.
+38 to +42mm is in the ballpark. Venturing out of those bounds may cause issues.

16's should be fine, but slamming your ride would be harder to manage.

15x7 here. 35mm offset. Mad rub front and back. 
In the rear, I had to roll my fenders and in my fronts, I had to bend the metal tab that sticks out but it still rubs a little. I'm going to have to cut that asap. 195-50s are a must to stretch the tire out.

Yuck.
225/45-15s here on 15x7" +40mm. No rubbing issues whatsoever on my CRX, which has smaller wheel wells than later generation Civics. You don't have any aftermarket control arms, do you? How low is your car, and with what spring rates?
