Default Wheel hop = this....

Allright... so the story goes something like this. I drive a EG with a LS swap. They make pretty decient torque such as everyone says.... but i didn't think this would happen. So I was pulling into my school (University of Northwestern Ohio) where my buddy was hanging out... Well, when i pulled in, i gave it a little gas and started to spin the tires a little bit... but only to find that it was going to wheel hop like a mother. So... within the next few seconds, i hear some loud noise, something scrapping/dragging, and my car being incapable of powering itself any further. So i pull into a parking spot, jump out after popping my hood and find this.......

Sooo... YEAH. I called around all day trying to find somewhere that had a bracket... and i had NO luck... with finding a bracket. The dealership wanted about $220.00 for the two things i needed... and i wasn't paying that. So, one of the salvage places i called that actually had the bracket/mount that i needed, but wouldn't take it off the engine for me because it's sold "with the engine"... i ended up having to buy a 94 B18B1 engine.... Oh well... I paid 350 for it... not a bad price to me considering im probably going to just build this bottom end now.

Sucks that that happened but it kinda serves you right for trying to show off. And why would you just buy a new engine for MORE than the brackets would cost from honda? Whatever. Good luck with the new engine I guess.

the axles were allright... except one of them popped the bearings out and i had to search around for them... but i found them all and cleaned them up and they're back in and working fine.

$350 for a B18B is a steal, that's why he got it.

Maybe because it got an extra b18 for $130 more? That'd be my guess anyways.

My bad, I didn't know that engine blew. I thought it was just the mount and the axle. Oh well.

Yeah, i had never seen anything like this before either, but it proves that wheel hop is extremely hard on things.

the engine didnt blow... all that happened was the bracket from the engine to the rubber mount broke which caused a CV shaft to pull out of its cup and spin the bearings all over the place. The engine is fine...

It's also amazing that you got a damn engine for $350! All in all, I'd say you made out pretty well.

why did that happen? was it not mounted with the correct mounts, good deal on getting another B- series engine for that price.

man i know how u feel, luckily u had ur timing belt cover on. i didnt and my cam gears landed on my mount, that was the only thing keeping my motor from touching the ground.

snap an axles, broke couple of bolts, had to rethread my block and cost for towing.
