What's wrong with my side mirror?
1993 Honda CX
Out of no where my left side mirror decided to become flimsy.
For some odd reason the folding mirror is now capable of folding backwards. Has this happened to anyone.
I really don't want to buy a whole new mirror, so if this is able to be fixed I would love to fix it!
I tried comparing the broken mirror to the right side mirror, but I was not able to draw any conclusions.
Advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm, I'm not quite sure what piece you are referring too. Would you care to expand? Thanks
Anyone else?

What keeps my side mirror from bending the opposite direction?
I'm thinking I might just have to make a visit to the local junkyard , I am getting sick and tired of not being able to see on the entire left side of my car.
Please, I know this has happened to other people.

you're probably not going to find one at a wrecking yard, they're rare.
take the whole thing apart, find the problem, re-enforce it, and it'll be better that new

Not sure what condition it's in. But if it's that bad, since you're from CA, check in the http://www.recycler.com. They usually have a used set for around $50. Check on ebay too.

Yes, I saw those phillips screws, but it didn't seem like there was anywhere to screw them into the actual mirror.
What exactly is the job of these three screws?
If I make these screws tighter, I don't think I will be able to bend my mirror either way.
Good suggestions, Thanks!

Re: What's wrong with my side mirror? (93SSPHatch)
Well I finally figured out what the problem was with my mirror. After taking apart both mirrors (to compare the broken one with the good one), I was able to determine what the problem was.
I guess there is a little metal "U-shaped" washer that fits on top of the largest spring to help prevent the entire mirror from rotating the opposite direction.
The force from the spring pushing upward caused this locking washer to break through the metal slots it was sitting in.
This means that the mirror can't be fixed, because the metal slots are now stripped thanks to the good old upward force of the spring.
I now need the entire driver's side mirror for a 92-95 Civic. If anyone has one please hit me up with an IM. I live in So. Cal. and wouldn't mind coming to pick the piece up.
Thanks for all the help!
