Whats wrong with my clutch?
OK my clutch is pretty rough when starting out in first gear. At first I thought it was because of the cold, maybe cold flywheel and cold clutch not connecting smoothly....I let my car warm up today for about 2 minutes, then hopped in and when I reverse to back out, and then go to 1st to pull away, the car jerks real hard and almost stalls. I either have to give it a lot more gas, or feather it very delicately with like 1/4inch of clutch pedal play. Is somthing worn out or is it really the cold? I've never had problems like this with my other 5spd cars...
Its a 97 EX, with about 87k on it, and i'm guessing the original clutch. Temperature on average right now is about 35-40.
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks all.

Re: Whats wrong with my clutch? (SLATER97EX)
I'm having almost the same problem in my 93 CX w/D15B swap. A lot of the time when starting in first the car bumps hard, almost like its about to stall. The pedal has about 1" of play before it starts to engage (imagine tapping your foot on it and it sinking an inch before hitting pressure). I was thinking that it was me not being used to hydraulic Honda clutches (I drove a VW cable one for four years), but it also could be the fact that it wasn't changed during the swap. So .... BUMP because i want to know too.

look above the clutch pedal underneath the dash the clutch master cylinder is probably leaking it's a pretty common problem usually overlooked b/c the cylinder will leak for years and not fail, air is most likely in the system

Possibly a throw out bearing. I know those cause jerky clutch engagement but don't know if that is exactly what you're situation is.

just clutch chatter man.
Happens on older clutches. My sister's 92 Civic with 150k original miles and original clytch does it when you don't ride the clutch out enough.
Not a big deal though....just a sign that the clutch is wearing out

Your clutch is pressure plate OR flywheel is not flat anymore. The uneven surface causes the clutch disc to vibrate/shake on its spring damper during engagement. This is why it feels like your motor is vibrating.
The solution is
1. Resurface the flywheel
2. Replace the pressure plate
3. Replace the friction disc
