Default What's times are expected out of a EK Coupe With a JDM GSR Swap

Whats up tech, my close friend put a JDM GS-R motor into his 97 Coupe. Well for starters its not the lightest thing in the world (2700lbs) and its basically stock. Just wondering what people are running in EK's?

He ran 14.8 bone stock in November-(Intake, Muffler and dropped on 16's)

Well since then he has put a chipped p28 (Mugen Program) 8700 Redline, 2.5 in exhaust, Phantom Grip LSD Conversion, EXEDY Clutch Kit, Plugs, Wires, and he Removed Butterflies. Since then he can't run anything faster than 15.0! Go figure car is stupid his 0-60 is .2 sec faster but 1/4 mile is .2 Slower?

Any suggestions? 4-1 Headers are on order but what about Cams or a Intake Manifold? Would it be worth it? All he wants out of it is to be able to run Low 14's.

Thanks For your inputs.

Funny ****, I almost fell off my chair.

He might wonna get rid of the Phantom Grip because it might ruin his spider gears.

Get rid of the phaton grip...if anything get the quaife. Change exhaust to 2.25", without internal mods, an exhaust that big wont help you much. DC 4-1 headers should be sufficient, and paired with toda cams and a ported manifold with TB upgrade, the car should be running a lot better. With all these mods u might also want to look into increase your spark power.

Lmao! btw you might want to reinstall the butterflies. there's a reason honda added that to the GS-R engine. if you don't plan to run it at least get rid of the two-stage intake manifold and run the ITR manifold instead.

Not too sure, but i know it wont bolt onto the gsr.

exactly, a itr IM will not bolt on to a gs-r head.. You can get a Skunk2 Intake manifold. Its like an ITR IM for a GSR. Price is very similar too.

You should try running the p28 with a stock gsr map instead of the mugen one.

the skunk2 manifold is good for some setups...but if u want the real deal....get the str or venom IM.....the venom is a bit on the expensive side though.
