does sound like a cat but only gut it if you plan on using it at a track ONLY... our cars don't benifit enough from it to justify it at all.. get an aftermarket cat for 25-150 bucks...

i'd bet money your cat's going bad. when i was turboed, my a/f was rich as ****. everytime i'd come to a stop after boosting hard, you could smell rotten eggs from under my car ... where the cat is. I felt sorry for the people around me. but rotten eggs is a tell-tale sign of a bad catalytic converter or one that's just being clogged full of **** (i.e. rich a/f ratio).

er uh no.
its the cat going bad, not getting too hot.
and do not gut the cat. im not a tree hugger but it really does destroy the enviornment.
