Same, I do believe. Just go rev it up some time.. it won't hurt it(too bad).

Then why would he ask what RPM the redline is, if he can't see it? Haha.

He may have bought an aftermarket tach and needs to know where to set it at?

Weird... just did some searching (which you should have done) and am looking at different 92 LX's and notice that some actually have lower redlines?? Weird.. My stock LX cluster shows 7,200 redline (not rev limit) but when I found other similar LX's, this is what I found

PICTURE OF AN LX D15B7 I FOUND ^^^^^^^^

HOW MY D15B7 LX LOOKED LIKE^^^^^

What gives??

Why would my stock original cluster show a redline of 7,200 and some others of 6,400 and some 6,800? My car came with a stock D15B7 though.. I'm confused.

Is yours an automatic? This may have something to do with these tach differences

The clusters maybe different due to DX or LX models alike vs. EX, Si models (etc). EX and Si had the D16Z6 (vtec) motor, while the others had D15B7 (non-vtec) or something like a D15Z1 or something. I honestly don't know.

I'm not 100% sure, but I do have both kinds of clusters and both are automatic.

No, that's a EX/Si cluster. The picture you have the owner probably swapped it.

The Z6's redline is 7200 RPM, the B7's is ~6.5 - it is NOT 7200 though.

Geeze, all these kids wanting their pistons to uppercut their valves.

Shhh, stop trying to explain logic to them .

@ OP:
I did some research on the subject, and if you have an OBD-I D15B7 then your redline should be 6400 RPM.

If you read it correctly and you have a D15B2 then that's the OBD-0 motor from '88-'91 civic DX/LX's - the redline is about 6700 - but doesn't make any power past 6500 so I'd shift there...

damn it.. I really don't wanna find out my cluster was swapped.. this car has a nasty history as it is.. but a stock P06's rev limit is at 6,800 though.. 2 P06's I tried bounce at 6,800

d15b7 redline is around 6500 rev limiter is close to 7000 (where it bounces)

the d16z6 redline is 7200 and rev limiter is...i dunno, ive never bounced off it before

are you sure you have a d15b7? there were 4 door ex's that came with a d16z6.

if you are 100% that you have a d15b7 then your cluster has been swapped, no question about it.

there is also this possibility.

i swapped my cluster out for an ex cluster but put my speedometer in it so the mileage isnt different.

Ebay is advertising this cluster right now (April 21, 2009) as being from a 92-95 Civic w/ABS. The redline looks like 6000, and the tach goes only to 8000. From which submodel does this cluster come?
