I believe its 2000-3000hours for any (quality) HID bulb like philips or Orsam (s/p )- I have a H3 d2s 6000k philips kit I bought early last year & still no problems
lol these lights are going in my oem fogs for my 2000 hatch

As long as its a Hella/Phillips, Osram bulb and nothign from K2, Hanabi etc....you should be okay.
Uh-oh....is someone thinking about HID's now??? Or was it always a thought and now you want to pull the trigger.

Hey, hey ... just doing some homework. I have wanted to get them for a while, I really like my headlight housings but they require the H3 for the driving beam. I know the the regular bulbs blow out about every 2-4 months and I was just wondering if the H3 H I D bulbs have as short a life as the regular bulbs.

The weird thing is I can't verify if Phillips makes a H3 bulb. Its almost as if they don't.

Phillips doesn't make any HID bulb for retrofit into a halogen housing. Any Phillips bulb you find w/ a halogen base has been modified by someone else.
Regular bulbs shouldn't burn out every 3-4 months, either. Typical halogen headlight bulbs last around 300 hours I think, which is typically 1-2 years, sometimes more. HID bulbs will typically outlast the car (3000 hours), assuming they are quality bulbs and you don't mess with them too much.

I meant goign to a authorized phillips dealer (retrofitter) they didn't have a H3 as a app. Only h7, h1, h4, 9006 etc.
